    gong
I work as an administrator in a medical center reversing days denied by insurance companies. I hit the desk gong whenever I get a day reversed. It works well, is made solidly and gives my coworkers a laugh

    Nice gong!
This is a very classy little gong. It’s pretty loud, even though it’s not a large gong. It sits nicely on the desk. I work in a law office, and we give the gong a smack every time we win a particularly difficult case!

i love this gong, it reeks of awesomeness!
my most excellent friend Becca got this gong for me for my birthday, and it totally rocks! i love annoying everybody in my house with it. dinner time? i’ll let everybody know with the sound of a gong! got a punch line on a joke? gong time!

    Going, Going, Gong
If you’re looking for a gong with a traditional, deep, gong sound, this isn’t the gong for you. However, despite its somewhat annoying tinny sound, it makes a good novelty gift and can add a unique Asian touch to your decor. This gong is not a toy so I wouldn’t recommend you leave it alone with any children under 7 years old as they could break it and although you might love children, the noise (and children) will eventually get on your nerves.

    nice product
This is a very nice little gong. It is daintier than others I have seen, but it makes a nice accent piece in my living room and has a nice ring to it. I am pleased with this purchase and would buy again.

    WHY???
Why was this wonderful show cancelled? From the storylines to the characters, I was hooked the moment it aired. Then POOF! It was gone. What a shame that the execs didn’t give this a great show a chance to catch its audience. Imagine what would happen to The X-Files if it began to air now. Can you say “bye bye” after the third episode? Nathan Fillion and the rest of the cast where perfect in their roles. Now the’re all scatterd in other shows, but it seems so wrong. I love Serenity!

BRING MAL AND HIS CREW BACK WHERE THEY BELONG!!

    Top Sci-Fi A Must Have
A true Science Fiction Western. Very good and all original, which explains why it was canceled. Good character definition. A must have.

Oh, go on! You know you want to!
I’m not lying or exaggerating. This was one of the best TV series ever to grace the small screen. Great concept. Great cast. Great writing. Great everything. How could Joss Whedon do anything wrong? Damn that Fox for screwing it up and then canceling it. Go on. Buy it. You know you want to. It’s the best, most shiny, thing in the ‘verse!

    Finding Serenity
I don’t think there’s much I can say about Firefly that hasn’t already been said. I love it. I always will. Would someone please give Nathan Fillion a job where he isn’t under Fox’s thumb?

    The Best Series I’ve Seen
After watching one of these shows I was hooked. Unfortunately I discovered this after it was cancelled. Maybe bad advertising. How come I’ve never heard of such a fantastic show. Big mistake. I love the characters, music, special effects, plots. Everything was obviously done by a phenomenal team. Its like a great book with the last few pages missing. More Firefly please.

    Customer Reviews:
great if you have 1 or 3
This is great if you have 1 or 3 cameras. I bought 2 cameras and wanted it to scan between both but if you don’t have 3 it goes to a noisey blank screen. The picture was great but it knocked out my wireless modem. So overall if you only want 1 or 3 cameras and do not have a wireless modem it’s good. Oh and it does not come with a mount for the wall.

    Baby Monitor
This is a wonderful monitor! The picture is very clear. You do have to get it in the right spot for a great picture. The only trouble is it does pick up some interference at our house. The picture you can put on your TV as well and it comes it so clear! We love it! The company Safe Baby was so great to deal with!!!! We had a few things that needed to be changed and they were so helpful and took care of us better then I could have dreamed of!!! I would defintely buy from them again!

    Pleasantly surprised
Researched a number of different video monitors and the reviews from customers. Overall, from what I could gather, they were all pretty similar, each with their strenghs and weakness. The reviews for “The Custodian” were generally favorable. I was attracted by it’s unique ability to move the camera by remote. A few customers complained that the camera made audible noises when panning. I can personally attest that the noise is insignificant to none. Will not wake my baby even if I were to lay it right next to him. I purchased two cameras with the monitor. The view on camera one is excellent. The view on camera two is suboptimal but functions okay. Not sure why the resolution from the second camera is less than perfect, but I can live with it (I don’t think the camera is defective). Sound is as good if not clearer than my 2 year old audio monitor. There is minimal interference, but from what I could gather, it is variable in different homes or locations. I don’t know how we went without a video monitor, but this one I can give a thumbs up to.

Like an auto mechanic discussing nuclear physics
Although Mr. Danforth may be an ordained minister it is obvious he is of the “unsaved” variety. Basically we wants the religious right to compromise their values to get along. Compromising values is what makes values worthless. A wishy-washy liberal mainstream protestant but obviously a politician first. The liberal elite will praise this book.

Boring Do not operate machinery while listening to these cd’s
I very rarely review audio books. I have listened to 100’s over the last 20 years. This has to be in the top 5 most boring. Its hard to believe people voted this guy into office. This audio book makes Al Gore look like wild man. This should have never been published. Shame on Penguin for putting out shuch dribble.

    Moral Relativism at the Forefront
Danforth is indeed a career politician. He admits he was unsure of his career path into theology. Both of these facts come through strongly in this book. He is willing to compromise on any point. Although not stated, it appears Danforth would be of a mind that all religions are correct and atheism is not too bad either. Christians who take strong positions, who fight for what they believe is truth are divisive. In the liberal left world of moral relativism, truth is irrelevant. When a Christian takes a stand on a “wedge issue” that is just flat out wrong. Even though the Christian viewpoint is generally the majority outlook in this country on most of his wedge issues, it is the Christian who is driving the wedge, not the other side. It doesn’t take “two to tangle” here, it is the conservatives who are the problem. Politician Danforth says they should cede to the minority so there is healing. When brutal forces oppress Christians in Cambodia or the Sudan, it is the conquered who are to love their enemy. When peaceful compromise fails, he does not blame the oppressor, it is the victims fault because they do not succumb to their tormentor’s will. This line of thought probably works in getting some things done. But there is a cost in ignoring truth for political expediency.

A thoughtful book on uniting rather than dividing
John Danforth speaks from the heart in Faith and Politics, as he urges us to move forward together rather than fight over wedge issues.

In his career, Danforth has mostly been a lawyer and a politician — both professions that generally reward aggressive, adversarial stances. Yet in this book, Danforth’s thinking draws more on the accommodating, uniting position that most would associate more with his third, much more peripheral career as a priest. Tying those three viewpoints together in a thoughtful, personal discussion on a variety of issues makes for a book that is a pleasant but important read.

The chapters on abortion and gay marriage caught my interest the most. Danforth does not takes sides on these issues as much as question whether they should have the importance they do. That makes sense. Does it really matter to the vast majority of us how these issues are resolved? Not really. Given their relative unimportance, it seems that we could find a way to take the heat and anger, on both sides, away from these issues. A win by either side will, practically speaking, mean little to the losing side.

But as Danforth points out, “church fights” too happen all the time, and often over less than important administrative issues. (As he notes the most ferocious fighters on these battles over church issues are retirees, who presumably have little else to do with their time.) As many college deans and presidents have noted about faculty issues, the most heated battles tend to be on the least important issues. In politics too, the same applies.

As others have noted here, Danforth does not offer much in the way of a solution. And what he does suggest is not the value that this book offers. Instead, the way he thinks and the way he writes on these issues provide us with a wonderful guide on how we should address them as well. With compassion, not just passion. With thoughtfulness, not anger. And looking for areas on which to agree, not disagree.

As a model on how to discuss wedge issues, Faith and Politics has a value beyond what Danforth says on the issues themselves. The words are not too important. How they are said is.

    Interesting
As a 19 year old college student who is a currently a philosophy major and agnostic, I found this book extremely interesting. I grew up with a family of christianity and a sibling who and will pursue it for the rest of life itself, so needless to say it takes alot to get my attention on the subject.

After reading the first chapter alone I was absolutely blown away at what I was reading. Danforth may be too little too late but at least he made an effort period. His concepts, to me, display the truth about politicians using christianity for profitable gain in any form possible (in a nutshell). He spends much time clarifying his points with text from the bible and making an attempt to interprete their purpose in politics today. The fact that he’s a republican is even more impressive that he had the guts to write such a novel.

    Please understand…

This book was not written to give answers to all the problems. It figures that people would despise this book because it doesn’t give an answer, and typical at that. As a famous artist once said, “Computers are useless because they only give you answers”. This book is the inbetween. We as people have become computers only interested in finding the answer ALONE not concerned with the thought process that it takes to GET to the answer. With that mindset, we will never find the answer. It is the INBETWEEN that is the most vital.

To myself, this novel provides yet another vital step to understanding faith and politics in attempt to reach that answer that we seem to try to find. Bravo to Danforth.

    Customer Reviews:
    Works Great with Vista
I installed this in a three year old Dell Dimension 9100 running Vista 32-bit Ultimate. It works great and the drivers installed automatically. My unofficial performance tests indicate that this card truly delivers gigabit transfer rates. I previously installed a TRENDnet Gigabit PCI Adapter in the same machine and I couldn’t get the drivers to load properly. Considering the simplicity and minimal labor required to install this NIC, it was definitely worth a few extra bucks over the lower-cost brands.

    Another great Intel Product
I’m fairly technical, and I tend to work with standard products that I know are reliable. Intel is one of the brands that I never have to worry about, whether it’s an Intel motherboard or an Intel network adapter.

In this case, I had three of my systems being operated and maintained at an off-site facility, and I brought them back into my own facility. Some one of the maintenance guys at the off-site facility had swapped out my Intel adapter for a NetGear adapter on one of the systems (I have no idea why), and I didn’t immediately notice the change. After having a tough time getting my system, high speed cable network, and DIR-655 router working together, I narrowed the problem to the system’s network adapter.

I purchased the Intel PWLA8391GT from Amazon at a good price, received it in a timely fashion, and after installing it on my troubled system, everything worked well.

Intel makes good products. This is one of them.

    Excellent Gigabit NIC
This Intel NIC card works great under both Windows Vista 32 and 64-bit operating systems. I had purchased a NETGEAR network card prior to purchasing this and routinely ran into blue-screens and poor performance - this card performed significantly better. It’s also priced attractively, so if you need a gigabit network card, then this is it.

Intel PWLA8391GT PRO/1000 GT PCI Network Adapter
I recently upgraded my multi-computer, multi-platform system from 10/100 to 10/100/1000 and needed new ethernet card for all of my computers. I found on Amazon the Intel PWLA8391GT PRO/1000 GT PCI Network Adapter. I was happy because I know intel products usually work out-of-the-box for any os system. When I got the product I found not only the ethernet cards but driver cds in addition. I slipped each card into my computers and as I thought no problems. No need for the provided cds either, Windows Vista easily downloaded drivers and I was on the net in minutes. Also my Linux boxes had no problems with drivers. All machines where up an running without a hitch. Great product!

    Can’t go wrong
I ordered this because I was having problem with my Verizon Fios internet connection. My computer is six years old but in great condition and runs fast. I have recently wiped it clean and reinstalled Windows XP Pro and it is a great computer, however, the internet connection was intermittent. I decided to try a new network card to see if that would fix the problem and it did. It was easy to install, simple to get running and I haven’t had any internet problem since then. Great inexpensive item.
