    Dirt Devil filter
Filters fit Dirt Devil Extreme Power. We pick up lots of hair in our dirt devil so we need to change filters often. They are great.

    excellent
I had checked with the Consumer Reports website and this was listed a recommended purchase. Also ordered the bags, since they are usually hard to find for the free shipping.

    Just a filter but…………..
I purchased the extra filter when I ordered the Dirt Devil vac just in case I might ever need to replace the original one. Even though I have found the filter assembley to be well engineered and may never need to be replaced, I am glad I did because the vac, itself, is so well built, I think it will be around a long time.

    Dirt Devil filter 0914
I use this filter in both my old and new Extreme Power Rechargeable Handheld Vacuums and it lasts a long time. I vacuum it 2x per week when I have the big vac out. It looks good as new after I clean it off. Lasts me about 2 months as I use it in the kitchen after my bird and dog leave seeds, feathers and fur! My 7 grandchildren contribute, too; in short, I use it a lot and it lasts.

Don’t Make the Same Mistake I Did
I chose to buy the cheap version of this movie which is produced by a variety of “fly by night” dvd companies and I am sure the quality is similar for all: really, really bad. The sound is so garbled throughout that its beyond annoying. The picture suffers from contrast and brightness problems. The only solution is to pay a little extra and buy the MGM production of the movie which I am told is very good and clean.

This is an important movie ghost directed by one of Hollywood’s most versatile and competent directors, Anthoney Mann who made many film noir films early in his career and then went on to direct some really great westerns with James Stewart.

I give the version I bought only one star because of the problems described above but I would give the MGM version at least four stars.

    Basehart a Darkhorse!
Richard Basehart gives an under the radar performance as a lonely, troubled, cold killer in He Walked By Night (1948). His screen presence as the character Roy commands recognition among noir stalwarts such as Widmark, Duryea , Mitchum, and Lancaster. How this minor league studio produced such a realistic vision of Los Angeles noir is amazing. The acting, camera work, script, lighting, sets, and final print leaves little to be desired. A bit more plot intrigue would have earned this film a 5 star rating and a place alongside noir masterpieces such as The Asphalt Jungle, The Killers, and Out of the Past. The film boasts a wide range of characters; from mailmen, police officers, and crimminal technicians to a mentally unstable housewife. Unfortunately I own The Ultimate Film Noir Collection which contains 5 DVD’s and 10 films one of which is He Walked By Night that omits closing credits. I accessed the uncredited cast of He Walked By Night by visiting a helpful website-the movie data base which contained interesting information about the film and cast. One comment I would like to make that was mentioned by previous reviewers is the comparison between the underground chase scene in He Walked By Night and The Third Man. The sound, editing, visual bleakness and desperation captured in the chase scene in He Walked By Night is superior to the plagarized scene in The Third Man.

    He Walked by Night
The semi-documentary approach Director Mann pioneered within film noir, seen in both “T-Men” and “Naked City,” was realized most effectively in this picture, which methodically follows a manhunt for a cop-killer. The film is extremely tight, plays out in chronological time, and climaxes with a brilliantly-shot sequence in a city sewer. The spooky, skin-crawling performance of Basehart as the baby-faced killer is reason enough to add this movie to your must-see list of noir masterworks.

    Great and dark
As a kid I only knew actor Richard Basehart for his part as Admiral Nelson of the submarine Seaview on the 60’s TV series Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, and wasn’t aware of his edgy work in films that had preceded it. This precision tooled crime drama also includes several elements that would later become part of the Dragnet TV series, but this is a much more intense sort of work. Based on a real case, this fine black & white film showcases Basehart’s portrayal of a brilliant sociopathic killer/criminal, but everyone is well cast and utilized; including a very young Jack Webb. Sort of half police-procedural film and half cold-blooded film noir. Basehart was also excellent as the man on the suicidal ledge in Fourteen Hours

You could call this a Dragnet prototype. Jack Webb has
a supporting role in this one as Lee, a forensic expert for LAPD. He must have been taking notes on how to do it. It is a good noir, murder thriller. Los Angeles became a favorite city for these type of movies for lots of obvious reasons. But it is also a huge city, spread out, diverse & exciting. A real challenge for cops. Richard Basehart is Roy Martin/Morgan, a smart sophisticated thief. He graduates to murder, a cop killer. He has no record & thus is able to fly under the radar of the cops for a quite a while. In a documentary style that became familiar, the film shows the slow, many times boring process in catching a dangerous criminal. This is seen through the main character, Sgt. Marty Brennan, played by Scott Brady. He is a doggedly determined homocide detective. It is also personal for him. One of the cops killed was his friend. He has the vast police community as his support system. Apprehension of the guilty seems assured. But the final chase scenes are nonetheless gripping, eventually ending in the vast sewer system underneath the city. Good drama, good movie

    Holds UP Great
I bought this because I tend to drop my phones in the garage or anywhere concrete finds me. It’s held up very well from scratching or even fading. Color is great and helps me find it in my purse. Totally helps protect the razr’s which I feel break too easily. Still needs more protection at top where the phone “screws” hold it together and allow movement, but better than anything else I’ve bought cause I don’t like the manly looking leather protectors. I’d buy again.

The gift that keeps on giving!
I purchased this book for a co-worker as a Christmas gift. SHE LOVES IT. She frequently brings it to work to show me something in it that she finds interesting, and this is many months after I gave it to her! She brings it up all the time how much she enjoys this book. So if you know of someone who likes this kind of reading AND enjoys a good cup of coffee, this is THE gift to get for them.

    Excellent read!
I love all of the chicken soup books. They are all great in their own way. If you’re having a bad day, just pick one up and read a couple of pages! Instant smile!

Charming coffee table book, perfect for gift giving
This book is the perfect present for the holiday season (or any other special occasion). For those not knowing what to give as a gift, this little tome will definitely please male and female friends and relatives with its inspirational true stories of coffee and how the coffee drinking experience has brought people together in fellowship and family. First off, this book looks a bit different from the usual Chicken Soup tome - the cover is about an inch smaller in size and the inside pages are printed on an off-white paper (instead of the usual bright white) which makes reading easy on the eyes. The cover is shaded with a coffee cream color, reminiscent of brewed coffee. It’s a pleasure to hold this book in my hands. And it’s an even greater pleasure to relax with this book for an uplifting spell of reading enjoyment. I always feel better after leafing through a Chicken Soup book, and this one in particular. I thrive on “feel good” stories. I appreciate the life lessons that the authors provide, and I get a kick out of seeing how they incorporate those lessons with the joy of drinking coffee. Pass the cheese tray, friends, and relax with a steaming cuppa - and this book.

    Vocal Companions
The equal strength and drama that Olga Borodina & Dmitri Hvorostovsky can create together is outstanding. Well matched. I got this after being so impressed with Borodina as Amneris several years ago at the Met. Her characterization was rivetting. Mr. Hvorostovsky displays similar talents in the refreshing "Largo al factotum".
    Both free spirits.

two great voices make a great match
A marvelous mix of solo arias and duets, these two fabulous voices blend beautifully, and have here chosen an interesting selection to delight our ears.

Rossini: Dmitri’s glorious voice, and musical sensibilities, manage to bring a freshness even to the perhaps too familiar "Largo al Factotum"…compared with his ‘92 recording of this, his Italian here is even crisper, and voice even more honey-golden. Olga sings the part of Rosina (as it was originally written) in her wonderful warm mezzo, doing the famous "Una Voce Poco Fa" to perfection.

Donizetti: Sumptuously melodic and wonderfully sung, Olga’s "O Mio Fernando" is exquisite. Rimsky-Korsakov: Though his operas are little known, these selections from "The Tsar’s Bride" may make you want to hear more, and if you don’t already have them, get all the available Dmitri CDs !

Saving the best for last, Saint-Saens’ "J’ai Gravi la Montagne" from "Samson et Dalila" is sensational. Their voices really shine in this gorgeous duet…it’s a spectacular piece.

The English Chamber Orchestra led by Patrick Summers does an excellent job here (especially in the Saint-Saens) and the little "libretto" is in the original sung language (the Russian in cyrillic) and with an English translation.

As a huge Dmitri fan, and an admirer of Olga Borodina, I find this well-rounded CD of arias/duets make for some very satifying listening.

    Sensational Duet
This Borodina & Hvorostovsky team created at most dream like sound here. I’d like to hear more of great duet like this but not much chance, no wonder this CD has been a hit since it’s release. We are really hungry for good Bell Canto operas. Why there isn’t much available? I had a pleasure of attending concert opera performance of La Favorita at the Carnegie Hall in March. Mr. Hvorostovsky sung King Alfonso and he was absolutely wonderful. I thought he was 100 times better than I imagined. If Donizetti could hear, he would be very happy. Complete recording of Tsar’s bride is available and I really appreciate if they release complete version of Barbiere and Favorita by these sensational current artists together.

    Oh, the wonderful chemistry here!
A delightful concept album indeed. Borodina and Hvorostovsky are indeed more than competent equals. If the recordings of the ‘Tsar’s Bride’ music are any indication, they should fill up opera houses and become better known in a very few years. Hooray for the young Russians!
